Unhurried

An Invitation to Slow Down, Create Margin, and Surrender Control to God

Rest, create space, and join God in the work He’s already doing.

Are you swimming in chaos with a never-ending to-do list? Do you chronically experience the fatigue and desperation of rushing from one thing to another? I’ve been there, and amidst my chaos and fruitless efforts to do and be everything, the Lord gently met me.

Unhurried invites you to experience the joy of slowing down. You’ll learn about margin—what it is, how Jesus created it, and how you can follow Him. Through the Lord’s guidance and grace, I will show you how to make time for eternal realities.

As a result of this hurried and busy lifestyle, we sacrifice what we don’t even realize we’re sacrificing: the things that matter. In Christ, there is freedom from striving, busyness, and hurry. Are you ready to take off these weights and find rest in Jesus?

  • It has become normal, even celebrated, for individuals and families to run through life at an unsustainable pace. Over scheduled, over committed has become normal language in our society and we wear it as a badge of honor. Samantha reminds us of God’s original design and encourages us to live with eternity in mind. All throughout her book, you see the constant reminder of the importance of slowing down, creating margin, and practicing rest. She supports these reminders with biblical examples and personal experiences. After reading this book, you will have the tools in your toolbox to reorient your life, say “no”, and live an unhurried life. Whether your male or female, single or married, young or old this book will be a great resource for you.

  • “We have known Samantha for years. We were literally her neighbors, I was also her pastor. My wife, Julie, led her small group. She is the real deal; an authentic, honest, committed disciple of Jesus. We are excited that you now have an opportunity to know her heart through this book. In her book, Unhurried, Samantha challenges us to develop a different way of life that “starts with opening your schedule and asking God to guide your steps.” Who wouldn’t benefit from a life with that kind of margin?”

  • “How many times do we often dream of unhurried days? Even when we do, living a life of rest is not taking a nap, but living a life abiding in Christ. Samantha helps her readers understand their calendar and to-do list might be full, but creating margin to spend time with Christ is not only a good thing, but a necessary thing. Reading Unhurried will help you learn new priorities, but it will mostly draw you closer to the One who gives life and gives it abundantly.”

    Dr. Kelly D. King

Women’s Minister, Quail Springs Baptist Church, Oklahoma City,

Visiting Professor of Christian Ministry, Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary

  • “In our fast-paced world, Samantha will remind you of what really matters through study and reflection on God’s commands to rest, trust, and surrender. She has a way of drawing you in with depth and practicality. This book is a must-read for anyone who is trying to do it all!”

    Lauren Vander Linden

Speaker & author of I Want to Move On

  • “Samantha Decker writes with the same spirit of warmth and welcome that marks her life. A book about rest needs such an author, who comes alongside her reader as a fellow companion on this hurried journey of life and says, “Me too, friend. Here’s how God helped me.” Providing spiritual insights, timeless wisdom, and practical helps, Unhurried addresses both the discipline and delight of the essential human need and biblical expectation of rest. No guilt trips here, but an invitation to discovering how less leads to more – more quality time, more energy, and ultimately more of the best version of you.”
